On E100 –
Our very own No Down Insulation

When we originally started out making outerwear in 2015, we knew we didn’t want it to contain any animal-derived materials, as were aware of what was happening in factory farming and we knew of it’s impact on the planet.

The way we treat and consume animals is one of the major driving factors for so many things that go utterly wrong, see…

  • general deforestation & fire clearing of the Amazon rainforest
  • ocean dead zones
  • world hunger
  • plastic waste
  • climate change

…and that list doesn’t even include animal rights issues or how we accept traumatized workers that have to work on the killing floors of slaughterhouses all over the world.

“Using actual down was out of the question.”

Yes, we wanted coats and jackets that had the look and feel of the classic puffer jackets we grew up with. But once we looked into live plucking, using actual down was out of the question.

So after looking at what the market for synthetic down alternatives had to offer, we tested and worked with several of the options presented to us.

But we never were fully satisfied. Either the warmth and “fluff” wasn’t there as much as we wanted, or we had to work with a synthetic material that was created for our coats, which meant actually producing future plastic waste that only came into existence because of our products.

“Made of 100% recycled PET waste from the world’s oceans.”

So after a couple rounds of trial and error, we developed E100 No Down, our very own insulation material. In cooperation with our manufacturer, we created what we were looking for: A filling material that had what we wanted int terms of performance, style and sustainability.

E100 No Down is proudly made of 100% recycled PET from plastic waste collected from the world’s oceans.
